Leave No Trace Level 1 Certification Course 

This 2-day course teaches the ideals and practices of Outdoor Ethics. Participants taking the Level 1 Instructor course will learn Leave No Trace skills, ethics, and techniques for educating others about these low-impact practices. Level 1 Instructor Course graduates are prepared to offer Leave No Trace Skills Courses and Workshops to their community.

This certification course is appropriate for park and recreation professionals, outdoor educators, scout leaders, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Course Location: Samuell Farm (100 US-80, Mesquite, TX 75149)

Camping Add-on

Camp overnight at Samuell Farm between class days! Please note: Restrooms are on-site, however there are no shower facilities.

$50 (no camping equipment provided)

$100 (includes use of a tent, cots, and a bin with a cook stove, pans, and coffee press)

What to expect:

  • This training will consist of 2 consecutive full days of learning, with a 1-hour lunch break
  • You will be asked to prepare a lesson plan on one of the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace prior to the class and present your prepared lesson plan to the group
  • You will take a daily hike of up to two miles on low-moderate intensity trails and uneven surfaces
  • Be prepared for changes in weather (this is Texas after all, y'all)

What to bring:

  • A reusable water bottle
  • Sack lunch or money for both days.  There are a few fast-food options close by.
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather.
  • Comfortable shoes for walking and hiking
  • Sunscreen and bug spray
  • Materials/props for your lesson plan
  • A passion for the outdoors
