  • Our after school program offers time each day for students to work on their homework and staff will be available to assist as needed.

Summer Camps

  • Our Recreation Center summer camps are for children ages 5 to 12 years of age. Children must be 5 years of age as of 9/1 of the current school year. Children will be broken into groups based on ages. Some Recreation Center locations offer teen camps for youth ages 13 to 17.

  • We are able to achieve our results by providing a safe, focused and engaging environment, free of unnecessary distractions for the campers such as trying to secure electronic equipment. For this reason, all audio/visual devices such as music players, headphones, cell phones, tablets, etc. should be left at home.

  • Recreation Center camp hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Discover Dallas camps are Monday - Friday 9am-4pm. Please know, all camps are closed for Juneteenth and 4th of July holidays.

  • Online registration for Recreation Center Summer Camps is available. Parents registering online are required to contact the recreation center for information about the mandatory parent meeting and to complete the registration packets prior to the first day of camp. Discover Dallas camp locations cannot register online; registration must be in person.

  • The people we hire are enthusiastic, supportive and committed to positively impacting the lives of our youth. The City of Dallas requires all staff to submit to extensive background checks as well as drug and alcohol testing before being accepted for employment. Many of our summer staff are full time educators during the school year or full time college students.

  • Our summer camp activities and programs consist of, but are not limited to the following, swimming, sports and games, arts and crafts, fine arts, field trips, tennis and golf.

Youth Sports

  • Dallas Park and Recreation Department offers and hosts a variety of sports for youth of all ages. Most sports programs begin at the age of 4 and are offered through the age of 14.

  • The cost for a child to participate in the Youth Sports program begins at $40 per individual. Price includes a uniform top with a number for each child. No equipment is included in the cost per individual.

  • Unfortunately there are no discounts for families having multiple siblings participating at this time. Fees were set at the lowest possible cost for any individual to participate.

  • A player’s age is determined as of September 1st of the current school year. Each sport is divided into age divisions based on every two years. Divisions are ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14.

  • Parents are welcome to volunteer as coaches, team moms, officials, scorekeepers, etc. In order to volunteer, a parent must officially register via our City of Dallas volunteer process.
