Martin Weiss owned and operated a millinery supply business in Dallas and was very successful. In 1928 Mr. Weiss bought and preserved the historic Hord home at 1111 Martindell for use as a community center. He later donated $65,000 for the Community building. In 1935 the Park Board officially named the center and the park Martin Weiss.
