Park & Recreation Staff Saves a Baby from a Burning Car

Tim Ray1

The Dallas Park and Recreation Department is so proud of our fast acting Park Maintenance employee, Mr. Tim Ray. In May of 2020, the quick-thinking actions of this dedicated park maintenance employee forever changed a family’s life. After witnessing a car crash into a tree and then come to rest in the street, Tim Ray instinctively stopped to help. Having seen a women pull three small children from the car, he noticed their panicked glances and hesitant gestures toward their smoldering car. They motioned that someone else was trapped inside. Using a fence post from his truck, he broke the car window, unlocked the back door, and removed a 3-month-old baby. Seconds after getting to safety, flames incinerated the car. This family will never forget the hero that saved their childs life! Mr. Ray was recognized at the October 15, 2020 Park and Recreation Board meeting and given a plaque in honor of his bravery!
