Coronavirus (COVID-19) Impacts on Dallas Park & Recreation

Covid-19

In coordination with the emergency declarations the Dallas Park and Recreation Department is closely monitoring information about the coronavirus (COVID-19), and has developed a plan based on the recommendations from health officials to ensure every precaution is taken to keep customers and staff healthy and safe.

In an effort to reduce the community spread of COVID-19, effective Saturday, March 14, 2020, Dallas Park and Recreation Centers and facilities will be closed, and all Department organized programs are suspended until further notice. Additionally, athletic fields will be closed for all reservations and organized play.

Effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, all playgrounds, golf courses and tennis centers will be closed until further notice. While use of playground equipment is restricted, open air use of parks and trails will remain open practicing social distancing for others.

Continuing the urgency and need to maintain social distancing, effective Monday, March 23, 2020, all remaining amenities within the park system which also include public water fountains, restrooms and dog parks will be closed. The only remaining use permissible will be open park turf areas and trails observing the 6ft. distance rule. First and foremost, we are strongly encouraging people to stay home but understand that this maybe the only greenspace near their neighborhood. Park Rangers will be monitoring parks and trail usage to ensure compliance of the 6’ ft safe distance requirement.
