    There is nothing like it in the world. The State Fair of Texas fills Fair Park with Texas-sized fun Sept. 28 through Oct. 21. Say "howdy" to Big Tex and join the annual celebration of all things Texan. Commemorating the significant Texans and Texas innovations that have helped influence our current way of life and looking forward to the state’s next era of pioneers, the Fair's 2018 is "Celebrating Texas Innovation." At 24 consecutive days, the State Fair of Texas is the longest-running fair in the nation, as well as one of the largest. Through its rich and lengthy history, it remains evident that the State Fair serves not only as an annual celebration but as a unique destination that brings people from all walks of life together to create lifelong memories.

    Community members will be lead by a certified Wildlife Biologist, Master Naturalists and scientists to locate and identify as many different species of vegetation and wildlife within the park using the iNaturalist app. Volunteers of all ages are welcome!

  4. State Fair Showdown - Southern University v. Texas Southern University

    October 20, 2018, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Fair Park Cotton Bowl Stadium

    In its inaugural year, the Jaguars of Southern University and Tigers from Texas Southern University will travel to Dallas for the State Fair Football Showdown. The third weekend in October will be filled with HBCU football, Battle of the Bands, College Fair, Star Light parade and a procession of brass bands. Finish the State Fair season with a bang by joining us at the all-new State Fair Football Showdown. Game tickets can be purchased through each university’s athletic office or by clicking the link below. A ticket to the 2018 State Fair Football Showdown includes admission to the State Fair of Texas on game day – Saturday, October 20, 2018.
