After being closed for over a year, the Dallas Park and Recreation Department unveiled the new and improved Fruitdale Recreation on Wednesday.
The recreation center underwent renovations on the floors, ceilings, walls, kitchen area, and restrooms.
However, there will also be some changes regarding the programs available at Fruitdale.
“This facility will be utilized strictly for senior programs as well as reservations for parties, social events, and special occasions,” said John King, Recreation Services District Manager.
The recreation center will no longer include a fitness center nor many of the regular youth programs once offered.
Instead, Fruitdale will offer Active Senior Adult Programs (ASAP) which consists of aerobics, walking clubs, bridge, dominoes, arts & crafts, day trips, and fitness and nutrition classes.
