Over the weekend, 1,019 volunteers joined Dallas Park and Recreation staff for It’s My Park Day. Every year residents, families, companies, homeowner associations and other civic groups join us in a citywide community service project, aimed at enhancing our Dallas parks and recreation centers.
Projects include litter and debris clean-up, weeding and mulching, gardening, and flower planting. This year’s event coincided with Earth Day and that created even more interest.
“We had a great turnout and we want to thank all of the volunteers for making It’s My Park Day a tremendous success,” said Oscar Carmona, Dallas Park and Recreation Assistant Director. “In all our volunteers donated 3,051 hours in sweat equity, the equivalent of approximately $70,311.”
In addition to beautifying our neighborhood parks, residents took part in organized picnics, barbecues, live music and other family friendly activities. It was a great time had by all. Thanks again for join us in making our park system more inviting for everyone to enjoy. For information about our next It’s My Park Day please call Park Maintenance Services at 214-670-1923.
