Be Amazing! Do Something Awesome! Volunteer!
Letter to Dallas Park and Recreation Volunteers
Greetings Volunteers and Happy Spring.
Thank you for your commitment to volunteering with Dallas Park and Recreation! Due to recent recommendations to minimize the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) by government officials, a decision has been made to cancel all volunteer opportunities until further notice and postponing our annual Volunteer Appreciation Awards Luncheon until April 2021. However, this doesn’t mean our appreciation for you is cancelled!
Our hearts are with those in our community who are suffering from the health effects of this pandemic. We are in this together and will rise out of this together. We look forward to the day when we can continue to offer volunteer opportunities to individuals and groups who want to share their talents and expertise by participating in senior adult and out of school time programs, park beautification projects like “It’s My Park Day,” and numerous other daily activities and special events.
We will keep monitoring reliable resources, follow the latest directives and will make further decisions accordingly. As we go through this unprecedented moment together, we will promise to share any future decisions with you as quickly as possible.
Our greatest asset at Dallas Park and Recreation is the community we serve, our family of staff and our volunteers. Volunteers are the heart of our department; you help keep our parks beautiful and our recreation centers humming with activities by sharing your skills, contributing your time and making a difference in our community!
